La Mesa Protest Turns Violent Leaving One Black Women Shot In Head By Police
San Diego - What started out as a peaceful protest in La Mesa, California Saturday, turned violent after the sunset.
Police shot chemical irritants into the crowd as well as rubber bullets. One black female was shot in the head with a rubber bullet while her hands were in the air, according to witnesses at the scene.
The identity of the woman has yet to be confirmed, but sources report that the woman did not die from her injuries.
Looting and fires were reported at La Mesa City Hall and nearby parking lots, resulting in damaged vehicles.
