Colorado mom sentenced to 24 years in death of 2-year-old son who shot himself with her gun

A Colorado mother has been sentenced to 24 years in prison by the judge after her 2-year-old son shot himself with her gun, thinking it was a squirt gun.

Melissa Michelle Adamson pled guilty to child abuse resulting in death and was convicted Monday for the death of Lokhi Bloom in the October of 2018.

According to local authorities, 2-year-old Lokhi drank water from a squirt gun on a regular basis and shot himself minutes after finding his mother's gun.

Adamson asserts that she was getting threatening text messages from a drug dealer and so she loaded the gun.

Drug needles were also found inside her home and within reach of other children in the home.
