Principal committed suicide after being accused to raping a 12-year-old student

A couple of hunters found Dr. Richard Omar Knight, a 35-year-old school principal hanging from a tree in the woods of Orange County, North Carolina in an apparent suicide.

This comes after an arrest warrant had been issued this past Friday being accused of raping a 12-year-old student at Dillard Academy in Goldsboro. His car had been found parked at a gas station near where his body was found.

Police are conducting further investigation on the case and believe other students may come forward with similar accusations against him even after his death. Anyone with more information about this case are being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.

Richard Knight had a doctorate in Theology and Christian Counseling and had been the principal for Dillan Academy Charter School since 2016.
