Woman fired after period leaks
By: Santiago Ortiz
Georgia – Aisha Coleman, a woman working for a 911 call center in Fort Benning is suing her former employment agency the Bobby Dodd Institute for firing her because she had two period leaks. The woman, who is approaching menopause, was told by their ex-employers that she was being fired because she didn’t “practice high standards of personal hygiene and maintain a clean, neat appearance while on duty”. She is being represented by the ACLU from the state of Georgia who say this is a case of workplace discrimination on the basis of sex, including “pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions" and violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
