Russia May Ban the Bible in latest Anti-Christain Hate Crimes
On August 9th, the Vyborg City Court will resume hearing the case to declare "extremist" the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, published by Jehovah's Witnesses in the Russian language.
Despite the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures being called the most reliable and unbias translation to date by multiple scholars, the Russian court claimed that the translation of the Tetragrammaton into the English rendering, Jehovah is an alteration used to fit the Witnesses' doctrine. However, according to multiple biblical scholars, the translation of the Tetragrammaton into Jehovah has been used for hundreds of years, predating the Watchtower Bible and Tracts Societies translation by some 400 years, dispelling the myth that Jehovah's Witnesses made up God's name.
It is also interesting to note that Old English did not have a J in the 1300's. However, the Tetragrammaton appeared in earlier writings as IOHOUAH, IOHOUA, and IHOUAH.
Russian courts have not been exemplary in sticking to facts and unbias opinions. Despite that fact, Jehovah's Witnesses remain hopeful that will soon see a victory by means of their God Jehovah.
This latest development comes on the tail of a recent Russian Supreme Court ruling against the non-violent and peaceful religious group of Jehovah's Witnesses. Thier non-violent and politically neutral stance as Christians has contributed to them being labeled as "extremist" under Russian law.
Multiple religious groups and experts in Russia have publicly condemned Russians treatment of Jehovah's Witnesses, even taking to the streets in protest in June. No Jehovah's Witnesses took part in the protest.
The Witnesses plan on taking their case to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
