Remains of ancient giant sloth discovered in Los Angeles ,

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority discovered the remains of a Harlan's ground sloth May 16th some 16 feet below a thoroughfare.

The ancient mammal roamed the Los Angeles basin over 11,000 years ago according to experts.

The sloth could reach a height of 10 feet and weigh as much as 1,500 pounds.
