Caffeine ruled cause of death of 16-year-old South Carolina boy
By: Joseph Bonner
David Allen Cripe died from too much caffeine, according to the county coroner.
The South Carolina high school student was just 16 years old when he collapsed during class last month, having suffered from a caffeine-induced cardiac event perhaps causing arrhythmia, according to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.
Arrhythmia is classified as an abnormal heart rhythm that leaves the heart unable to pump sufficient blood to the body, affecting the heart, brain, and other organs.
